Sportscentre, TSN's flagship sports news and information program, began airing in HD on Sept. 25. Initial plans for the transition to "SportsCentre HD" were unveiled in early 2006, and in the past nine months the facility has undergone a complete design overhaul, with construction of a new 16:9 set, studios and control room.
While the program's studio activity will be in HD, its field reports and remotes will continue mostly in SD until a full transition to mobile HD equipment can be achieved and eventually provide only HD content.
Canadian viewers will be able to watch up to a dozen hours of SportsCentre HD coverage on weekdays, and up to 15 hours on weekends. Next week, TSN will also launch a new daily 30-minute hockey show in HD.
