Cablevision's iO Hits 1M Mark

New York-based Cablevision Systems Corp. said the number of its iO: Interactive Optimum digital cable customers has exceeded one million. More than 33 percent of the company's customers are now iO customers, up from 6.5 percent at the end of 2002.
The service was first offered on a limited basis in late 2001 and did not become available across Cablevision's entire service are until last year. According to the company, iO incorporates advantages over traditional cable television, and features that are not available from conventional satellite providers because of technological limitations, such as HDTV, VOD, international programming packages and iO Showcase preview channels.
