Triveni Digital to Present Free DTV Seminars Nationwide

Triveni Digital is now presenting a free seminar series, the first of which is entitled "PSIP and MPEG Compliance in Practice." The half-day courses are targeted at SBE, SMPTE and SCTE members, and feature hands-on sessions with PSIP generators, multiplexers and stream analyzers.

The firm said the FCC's PSIP mandate for ATSC broadcasters has created an environment where DTV streams typically have fully populated PSIP tables. Simultaneously, the plug-and-play agreement between the cable and consumer electronics industries requires carriage of a substantial subset of the PSIP tables, if present in the off-air stream.

Attendees who complete the PSIP-MPEG seminar will receive certificates. (Engineers who are SBE-certified may submit copies of their certificates to SBE for recertification credit consideration, according to Triveni Digital.)

Course times, locations and a list of topics are available at The Triveni Digital Web site. Reservations are not required; Triveni Digital said it also welcomes attendees who are not members of SBE, SMPTE or SCTE.

In its first week, seminars were held in Philadelphia and Atlanta, with remaining courses to include:
