The FCC released a list of Broadcast Station Totals as of March 31, 2004. The list showed 773 commercial UHF TV stations, 589 commercial VHF TV stations, 255 UHF educational TV stations and 127 VHF educational stations. The list counted 498 UHF and 112 VHF Class A TV stations. The total number of TV translators (UHF and VHF) was 4,737, with a total of 2,128 LPTV stations.
