Bravo HD+ to transform into Universal HD network Dec. 1

NBC Universal Cable will re-launch Bravo HD+ as Universal HD.

It will offer programming from the NBC Universal library in HD, according to David Zaslav, president, NBC Universal Cable, and Jeff Gaspin, president, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment and Cross-Network Strategy.

The new Universal HD network, which will launch Dec. 1, will be available to more than 25 million subscribers through distribution deals with DIRECTV, Cablevision, Cox, Insight, Mediacom, VOOM and others.

Universal HD will draw on “all corners” of NBC Universal’s sports and entertainment library for HD programming, including Universal’s film library and footage from the 2004 Summer Olympics.
