Bitcentral Precis Finds Roots in Vegas

Bitcentral, a video content management and distribution system provider, has completed the sale of Precis to three of the four news-producing television stations broadcasting in the Las Vegas market.

The Bitcentral Precis News Production System is a nonproprietary, turnkey, play-to-air digital news management system. The all file-based workflow solution is integrated with iNews and ENPS. Precis is browser based and delivers an integrated online archive with storage for SD or HD video content.

The three stations in Las Vegas to purchase Precis are:

• KTNV-TV, the ABC affiliate, which deployed a standard-definition system in January.
• KLAS-TV, the CBS affiliate, which is scheduled to go live shortly before NAB2007. KLAS will shoot, edit, play-out, and archive their video in HD.
• KVBC-TV, the NBC affiliate, which is scheduled to deploy after NAB2007.

"Las Vegas is the ideal showcase market for our flagship product," said Bitcentral CEO Fred Fourcher. "Each station in Las Vegas is unique, but they all share a requirement for a non-proprietary way to produce news across multiple platforms. Precis' ever-increasing market acceptance across the country is a strong testament to our assertion that broadcasters should be demanding true non-proprietary solutions of their vendors. Our message is clear--proprietary news production systems and nonlinear editors are a thing of the past."

Precis debuted at NAB2005, and since then, about 60 stations have deployed or committed to purchase Precis by NAB2007, according to the company.
