Bitcentral launches Oasis Media Marketplace

Local TV stations now have a better way to buy and sell news and other video content, thanks to Bitcentral, a provider of news content distribution and management solutions.

At the recent National Association of Television Programming Executives (NATPE) 2009 Market and Conference, the company announced the launch of its Oasis Media Marketplace, which is based on Bitcentral’s Oasis news management and distribution product.

Oasis Media Marketplace bypasses costly and time-consuming satellite deliveries of news by allowing content producers to buy, sell and exchange broadcast-quality video over the public Internet.

The Oasis Media Marketplace ties into local TV stations’ production processes and gathers local content automatically. Oasis Media Marketplace will provide full rights, embargo and usage management tools, so local stations can protect their content while making money from other stations outside of their group and market area.

Bitcentral is introducing Oasis Media Marketplace to nearly 100 North American broadcast customers using the company’s Precis and Oasis newsroom systems. Current Oasis customers include TV stations owned by Raycom, Media General NBC, and other station groups. For a limited time, Reuters is providing free content for the Oasis Marketplace trials. Thomson Reuters has extensive international coverage — much of which has not been available to domestic television stations — and will be a value-added benefit to Oasis users.
