NBC News Channel has chosen BitCentral to deliver round-the-clock news content to more than 250 NBC affiliate stations and other clients.
BitCentral's MediaPipe software, which integrates broadcast, IP-over-satellite and MPEG file technologies, features desktop applications, the elimination of re-feeds and videotape storage and unlimited archival storage. The database is organized by user-defined categories so users can browse or broadcast VOD, track stories and build rundowns. Digital servers located at affiliate stations can then download news stories.
The rollout of the system is expected to begin in April and be completed by this Fall. BitCentral, which also provides news delivery services for CBS Newspath, is an Irvine, Calif.-based video content management and distribution systems provider.
