Belgian broadcaster RTBF to transition to digital news workflow

Radio Télévision Belge Francophone (RTBF) in Belgium has chosen the Dalet Enterprise Edition to serve both as its newsroom computer system and a digital asset management platform as part of a larger project designed to transition its radio and TV operations to a digital workflow.

Dalet Enterprise Edition will be used to index, catalog and harmonize content in this multiuser, multiplatform environment. The deployment is part of a project that will transition RTBF operations to a tapeless environment and provide the broadcaster with a multiplatform content distribution platform, according to RTBF director of TV production Cécile Gonfroid.

Journalists and producers will have access to all available information sources, including agency wire feeds and video sources, from Dalet Enterprise Edition so they can prepare scripts, rundowns and stories for their shows and newscasts.

The Dalet Enterprise Edition Application Programming Interface (API) as well as a set of MOS gateways will facilitate the integration of this editorial platform with a number of systems, including EVS ingest and playout servers, Orad computer graphics, Avid nonlinear editing systems and a Front Porch Digital archiving platform.

The rollout will take place in two phases. Once the initial proof-of-concept implementation is finalized and validated, a total of 300 Dalet workstations will be deployed across RTBF facilities.
