BBC News adds to satellite fleet with DSNG 10 from Megahertz

Cambridge-based integration specialist Megahertz Broadcast Systems has delivered DSNG vehicle 10, the latest addition to the BBC News fleet of DSNG vehicles.

The vehicle is based on a 7.5-ton LWB Mercedes Vario fitted with a 12kVA on-board generator and 39-foot pneumatic mast. The satellite system includes a five foot Swe-dish antenna fed with a fully redundant uplink chain.

Production facilities are provided for up to 11 cameras - three via Bi-ax CCUs, three via fiber, one via a radio link and the remainder via external inputs. The heart of the system is a Quartz routing matrix of 32x32 SDV and 64x32 audio.

There also is an eight-channel video switcher, an 11-channel audio mixer and a Trilogy 36-port talkback matrix.

The vehicle's first major assignment will be this month in Cyprus, where it will report from the Great Britain Olympic team's training headquarters.
