BBC examines Panasonic's tapeless and HD systems for new project
By TVTechnology published
The BBC is putting Panasonic's HD and tapeless products on trial.
The one-year trial phase was announced at NAB2006 last month in Las Vegas. Panasonic Broadcast UK has agreed to supply P2-based tapeless products and DVCPRO HD tape-based products for the BBC's Starwinder Project.
The BBC will test the tapeless and HD cameras and camcorders in partnership with two manufacturers over the next 12 months. The move is part of a corporate strategy to transition to tapeless and HD by 2010, and to help inform its future procurement of tapeless and HD technologies.
Panasonic was one of two companies chosen for the trial.
