AT&T to Provide Telecommunications for NBC’s Olympics Coverage

AT&T announced an agreement with China Netcom Group Company Ltd. (CNC) to provide telecommunications services between China and the United States during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing (Aug. 8-24). The services will enable AT&T to provide a dedicated network through which NBC can transmit digital television coverage of the Games back to the United States for national broadcast.

AT&T and CNC were also contracted to set up a circuit for NBC’s “Today Show” to broadcast live coverage of the Aug. 8, 2007 one-year countdown celebration held in Tian An Men Square.

CNC was selected by Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee as the exclusive fixed-line telecommunications partner in China for the 2008 Olympic Games. AT&T is the Official Telecommunications Services Partner of the U.S. Olympic Team; it has provided communications services to China for more than 20 years, and now has national coverage in more than 135 Chinese cities, serving more than 300 multinational customers.
