The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and Cable Television Labs have agreed to synchronize their technical specifications for interactive DTV. The agreement provides the architectural framework defining a combination of existing ATSC DASE standards and CableLabs OCAP specifications to reach a common standard.
The two organizations will work with other standards organizations to try and achieve global standardization for interactive DTV.
ATSC is a standards organization tasked with promoting the U.S. DTV standard worldwide; CableLabs is a consortium of cable MSO's developing an open standard for consumer cable devices.
