AMWA makes first public showing of MXF Mastering Format Project

The Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), formerly the Advanced Authoring Format Association, sponsored the first public demonstration of the MXF Mastering Format Project during NAB2007 in the Renaissance Hotel.

The project is intended to bring a fresh approach to MXF and to provide real-world solutions for key workflows. The focus of the effort is to create a single MXF master file from which multiple versions of a program can be created.

Currently, there are two key components to the initiative, including the MXF Mastering Format and the MXF Processor API. Turner Broadcasting System began the effort two years ago.

Among the companies taking part in the MXF work are: EMC, Marquis Broadcast, Metaglue, Omneon, OpenCube Technologies, Pro-Bel, Quantum, Snell & Wilcox, Softel and TMD.
