116th AES Convention in Berlin releases stats

The 116th AES Convention, held May 8–11 in Berlin, had increased exhibitor and visitor attendance. The number of participating companies and visitors has increased for the first time in three years, with 259 exhibitors and a total of 6,100 attendees, an increase of approximately 10 percent over 2003.

The organization further reported that attendee duration had also increased, to 2.5 days on average. In addition, more than 1,200 also participated in the convention program with papers, poster sessions, workshops and tutorials, and 170 attended a pre-convention symposium on multi-channel sound in radio.

The Berlin location was also cited as drawing many first-time visitors from the 10 new EU member states. The majority came from Hungary and Poland but there were also delegates from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Estonia. In total, visitors came from more than 80 different countries.
