Sony introduces latest version SONAPS news production system

Sony has rolled out the latest versions of its SONAPS news production system and XPRI NS series nonlinear editors. The new system streamlines the newsgathering workflow through advanced media handling of proxy video files and metadata, close integration with newsroom computer systems and new software editing applications for core news production functionality.

The SONAPS system offers a fully managed environment for planning, ingest, production, playout and content delivery with shared access to content and system resources. As an integral part of the SONAPS and XDCAM HD workflow, Sony has developed the XPRI NS line of editors based on the XPRI software platform. The XPRI NS platform is a new series of multiformat nonlinear editing systems designed for demanding news applications.

The XPRI NS series of editors includes a proxy and high-resolution laptop field editor, a journalist's proxy editor and a high-resolution finishing editor. The XPRI NS editors feature multiformat support, including native long GOP editing, application-dependant selectable interfaces and close integration within the SONAPS architecture.
