Leader Electronics is extending the capability of its LV5700A broadcast signal analyzers with new features allowing assessment of color signal levels. The addition of delta and bar graph display modes enables operators to spot chroma gamut errors and identify the source colors.

Displayed on the LV5700A's high-resolution TFT color screen, the delta is seen as a blue surround if the R, G and B color components are within user-specified upper and lower limits.

The same data can alternatively be viewed as bargraphs. In Figure 1, all bars for Y, G, B, R and composite are within safe levels and are displayed as blue. Illegal excursions above and below the threshold are displayed in red as shown in Figure 2. The delta and bar graphs are selectable from the LV5700A's vector menu.

The analyzer can handle HD-SDI and SD-SDI signal formats. Its analytical capabilities include transmission error detection, data dump display and voice control packet analysis.

Video sampling rates can be switched automatically between 60- and 59.94Hz in HD mode or to 13.5MHz SD. The analyzer also incorporates analog NTSC/PAL composite and 525/625 component I/O. Two composite inputs and one switched output are provided. When operated in component mode, the LV5700A can display Y/Pb/Pr levels as RGB. Analog monitoring functions include picture, waveform and vector displays.
