Ketchum’s Sun Valley Resort installs 300 37in plasma displays

Panasonic plasma screens replace CRTs in guest rooms at Idaho resort.

All guest rooms at the Sun Valley Inn and Resort in Ketchum, ID, now feature high-contrast Panasonic widescreen 37in plasma displays. As part of a makeover that began last December, more than 300 plasmas have been installed in 260 rooms throughout the facility — in guest rooms as well as many of its bars and restaurants.

Richard Andersen, the hotel’s director, said the decision to replace conventional TVs with plasma models was an aesthetic one. After experimenting with two different room designs — one with a tall armoire housing a standard TV, the second with a short armoire with a plasma screen placed over it — the hotel’s owner, R. Earl Holding, opted to invest in the flat panel displays.
