KBJR upgrades Comprompter NewsKing

KBJR-TV in Duluth, MN, recently upgraded its Comprompter NewsKing tapeless newsroom system automating a NewsBank nonlinear tapeless solution from Digital Broadcast.

The solution provides a complete end-to-end digital workflow with multichannel ingest and playout, editing and networked storage in a shared digital network environment.

The Northland's NewsCenter is a part of Granite Broadcasting, which also owns or operates several properties in the Duluth/Superior region, including KBJR-TV, KRII-TV, KDLH-TV, KBJR-DT2 and the market's cable-based WB-100 -soon to be CW. NewsKing and NewsBank facilitate news production at all of these sites, which account for more than 50 hours of local news programming each week.

NewsBank provides a seamless interface with The Northland's NewsCenter's existing Adobe Premier Pro editing workstations. Additionally, NewsBank interfaces with BitCentral and Pathfire so material is edit-ready with no format conversion required.

Microsoft Media Clip viewers are embedded inside of NewsKing so producers can preview news clips from their workstations and reporters can enter the body copy of SOTs and PKGs for complete closed captioning.
