Industrial display maker partners with Romanian and Italian schools

Romanian students learn about electronics manufacturing through equipment and on-the-job training.

Global Display Solutions (GDS), a manufacturer of industrial displays, has partnered with several Italian and Romanian schools local to its manufacturing sites.

Most recently, a partnership has been established by GDS following the recent opening of its manufacturing facility in Arad, Romania. The Italian schools involved in the scheme are in Trissino and Motta Di Livenzo, and were chosen because of their proximity to the company’s Italian headquarters in Cornedo and Motta Di Livenzo. The partnership will enable the schools to exchange ideas and provide students with an opportunity to gain experience and develop a career in electronics.

The partnership will also make the Romanian schools eligible to receive EU funding, as the Romanian government does not provide local schools with financial support. To date GDS has provided the Romanian schools with a variety of equipment, enabling the students to learn about different aspects of the industry firsthand. Eight Romanian students are currently working at GDS’Arad facility, receiving training in departments such as assembly, testing, repair and PCB insertion.

Current partnerships are modeled on the company’s first educational initiative in Italy, which began with a plant opening in 1979. Today many senior managers currently with GDS originally joined through the company’s first Italian partnership.
