Harmonic simplifies IP-based video service management with NMX Digital Service Manager

Harmonic’s NMX Digital Service Manager now features Any-to-Any technology, a capability that provides flexibility and simplifies the composition and management of an operator’s video program lineup by automating the way services are moved across IP-based transports and multiplexes. Harmonic’s technology employs IP-based connectivity between encoders, eliminates the permanent physical mapping of encoders to multiplexers and allows routing of any encoder to any multiplexer. With the new capabilities, operators can manage any number of channel lineup changes using a simple GUI.

The system leverages the advantages of IP to streamline video service management. Harmonic offers native IP video delivery solutions across its entire digital video product line. The flexibility of a switched IP architecture increases operational efficiencies, lowers capital and operating expenses, improves scalability and enhances quality of service.

The added technology enhances the company’s DiviTrackIP distributed statistical multiplexing capabilities to assign any encoder to any multiplex, and simplifies redundancy and backup schemes. In addition to the new technology, NMX offers comprehensive service-level control and management capabilities, as well as conditional access setting management with the Event Information Server and dynamic scheduling for advertisement insertion with the Digital Program Insertion Server.
