GDS opens a new outdoor testing facility in Cornedo, Italy.
Global Display Solutions has opened an outdoor test facility in Cornedo, Italy, to more rigorously test its outdoor displays in real environmental conditions. The facility allows GDS to track the actual performance of a monitor once it has been installed in the field.
Displays tested in the outdoor facility are connected through an Intranet, which allows GDS to collect and compare data such as temperature, humidity and sun power radiation values. Evaluation of this data allows GDS to determine the most appropriate thermal cooling system for each display and application, and helps the company verify the laboratory simulation tests conducted following manufacturing.
By testing its displays in real environmental conditions, as opposed to simulated surroundings, GDS hopes to better detect any unforeseen problems prior to installation in ATMs, transportation facilities and other typical outdoor customer sites.
