C-COR helps cable operators insert ads via IPTV

C-COR, specialists in technology that helps simplify the transition to on-demand networks, announced that three major cable operators have expanded their deployment of the company’s digital program insertion (DPI) technology. This integrated approach for dynamic advertising brings program providers numerous operational advantages and cost savings.

Now using digital ad insertion within its IP-based headends across the United States are Adelphia Communications, Charter Communications and Comcast Spotlight, which are all deploying C-COR's DPI in nine new markets. C-COR is now developing the next evolution of advertising with dynamic ad insertion for VOD as well.

Charter recently deployed C-COR’s IP advertising insertion solution, also referred to as Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) DPI, in the St. Louis market. Adelphia added Cleveland and six Comcast Spotlight markets — Boston, Denver, Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco, St. Paul — have now deployed or plan to roll out C-COR's IP ad insertion solution in the coming months.

Charter currently employs C-COR's ad insertion solution in more than 50 percent of its subscribers. Adelphia and Comcast currently employ C-COR's DPI solution in nine and 15 markets, respectively.

With more than 120 ad insertion deployments worldwide, C-COR’s advanced advertising solution uses a highly scalable video streaming platform and provides operators with the channel counts they need to deliver cost-effective addressable advertising. C-COR’s DPI server can insert SD and HD MPEG-2 advertising as well as other content, such as news updates, local programming, or long-form infomercials, into 2000 cable network channels from a single server.
