Broadcast center readies for Chinese National Games

As China prepares to hold its Tenth National Games in October, Avitech is ramping up its schedule to install 16 MCC-4dE multi-image display processors in the event’s International Broadcast Center.

The games, which will be held in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu, will encompass 32 sports and more than 350 sports disciplines. In China, the games are often referred to as a mini-Olympics. That’s particularly true this year as the nation looks forward to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Avitech’s multi-image display processing systems play a critical role in the overall success of signal monitoring for the event. The 16 MCC-4dE digital video multi-image display processing modules to be used also include 32 embedded audio channels (eight per image).

The Avitech system will be used to monitor sources switched by a Grass Valley Concerto routing switcher and controlled by an Encore control system. Snell & Wilcox interface equipment will glue the operation together with various signal distribution and conversion modules. All signals will be viewed on three 50in Panasonic plasma monitors.
