AP Television News streamlines booking for World Cup

AP Television News has found a way to centralize and streamline resources for booking, news gathering and client broadcast operations during its broadcast of the 2006 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament.

The company is using ScheduALL's operations management software to deliver comprehensive news coverage of the tournament— including multiple live positions, tape playout and worldwide distribution — through a single, unified resource management system. The AP feeds are delivered through Sports News TV (SNTV), a partnership between the AP and TWI.

AP has been using ScheduALL software since July 2002 to maintain a work order trail from the initial client request to the time the final invoice is produced. At the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the AP is taking advantage of its existing ScheduALL software, already customized for this type of event, to ensure that its news gathering resources are made available to broadcasters and other media groups around the world. Because rates and other information related to their clients' services are already entered into the AP's ScheduALL software, the company can use the system as a single resource for bookings over the course of the tournament. As a result, staff can manage key processes without the need for constant communication or updating of independent solutions.
