ABC News will become the exclusive representative of the BBC for the distribution of BBC News on-demand broadband and wireless content in North America, the companies announced last week.
The agreement grants ABC News distribution rights to about 40 daily on-demand reports. ABC News and the BBC began a cooperative relationship in 1994. This deal expands the relationship, making ABC News one of the first U.S. networks to leverage the content resources of an international news organization.
The deal better positions ABC News and the BBC in their mutual drive to reach news consumers anytime, anywhere on any platform, according to Bernard Gershon, senior vice president and general manage of the ABC News Digital Media Group.
