EditShare Announces Technology Partnership with Vector 3

EDITSHARE ANNOUNCES TECHNOLOGY PARTNERSHIP WITH VECTOR 3

Integrated shared production storage and video servers provide automated, realtime, playout for fast-paced news and sports workflows

Boston, MA – April 13, 2009 --EditShare®, the technology leader in cross platform collaborative editing and shared media storage systems, announced that they have teamed with Vector 3 to integrate their award-winning EditShare Storage and XStream Series solutions with VECTORBOX playout servers. The integrated solution will be demonstrated at NAB 2009, (April 20 to 23 in Las Vegas, NV) on the EditShare stand (SL6420).

EditShare Storage and XStream Series shared storage solutions are custom engineered to meet the rigors of large-scale broadcast production environments. Designed to expertly manage extremely large files as well as hundreds of simultaneous users, EditShare shared storage technology incorporates collaborative media production tools such as Avid and Apple project sharing. These unique features accelerate production workflows for fast-paced news and sports operations. EditShare founder and president Andy Liebman said of the partnership; “Vector playout systems are very well-known and in use at many broadcasters around the world. It is advantageous to customers that we work together well.” Liebman further commented, “We are very pleased to have our next generation EditShare solutions fully qualified for the VECTORBOX. File migration from our shared production storage systems to the Vector playout server is completely automated. The entire media flow is seamless for the user. The integrated systems scalability, bandwidth, and performance are outstanding.”

Editshare and Vector 3 provide a collaborative, format independent broadcast workflow over Gigabit LAN where ingest, editing and final playout are unified with no need for copies and transfers between systems. The result is a high-performance, seamless news production and playout workflow with scalability and redundancy options and real-time media sharing.

“Editshare solutions incorporate the highest technology standards and meet the most stringent operational requirements for production storage. This is ideal for our customers whose workflows are mainly fast-paced news and sports productions,” said Román Ceano, president, Vector 3. “Even more important, they have met this high bar without compromising the benefits of working with open IT systems. This gives our customers an enormous advantage with both performance and productivity.”

About the VECTORBOX

VECTORBOX is a complete and easy-to-use playout solution and the ideal choice for any channel where playout and ingest of content from a variety of sources is required and where manpower is at a premium.

VECTORBOX’s powerful video server, graphics and automation bring clear benefits to both large and small channel environments, such as enhanced file-based workflows and complete management of content from live, VTR and satellite feeds. Other benefits include faster media to air with reduced reliance on videotape and reduced operating expenses without the need to duplicate media.

EditShare Complete Collaboration

The Storage and XStream series is part of the EditShare Complete Collaboration line of products which provide shared media and collaborative workflows – from ingest through production to archive. In addition to the Storage Series and XStream Series, the Complete Collaboration line includes EditShare FLOW and EditShare Ark.

Designed for the industry’s leading editing and compositing products from Adobe, Apple, Assimilate, Autodesk, Avid, Digidesign, Digital Vision, and Sony, EditShare storage servers, including the ultra-performance XStream series, allow all connected workstations to capture, access and share in real time a common pool of media files. Regardless of application or platform, source material, work in progress and finished packages are shared and instantly available to all users on the EditShare network. EditShare is also the only solution that provides full Project Sharing among both Apple and Avid editing workgroups. EditShare servers connect via Gigabit or 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

FLOW Ingest captures up to four channels of media and associated metadata, storing each channel in up to three formats simultaneously and outputting a proxy for fast retrieval. No background transcoding is required and files are available immediately for editing. EditShare’s unique Universal Media File technology allows ingested media to be shared and used by editors working on both Avid and Apple editing applications.

FLOW Browse simplifies media cataloging, search and retrieval within EditShare shared storage environments. Users can quickly locate media among hundreds of thousands of clips on the EditShare media spaces. From FLOW Browse, users can update metadata, log clips, and drag and drop media to Avid and FCP bins.

FLOW Ingest and Browse are fully integrated with EditShare’s Storage Series as well as the ultra-performance XStream Series for high-volume, high-demand environments.

EditShare Ark provides a full range of very cost effective, disk-based solutions for backup, mirroring and archiving needs. While Ark systems are not generally usable for realtime editing, in a crisis situation where something has happened to a facility's main EditShare storage, Ark Disk Based Storage can be “activated” and used to complete mission critical work while the primary storage is repaired.
