RYCOTE ANNOUNCE NEW MINI WINDJAMMERS AT IBC

Rycote Introduce Wind-noise Protection For Compact Digital Field Recorders

Stroud, UK, September 2008: Windshield specialist Rycote are announcing several new additions to their range of Mini Windjammers for compact microphones and built-in camcorder mics at this year's IBC show in Amsterdam.

Rycote forged its reputation providing windshields to professional broadcasters who needed to record on location without the intrusion of wind noise. The more recent Mini Windjammer range was created to offer similar wind-noise protection to users of modern camcorders with built-in miniature microphones. Now, with the rise in popularity of compact digital solid-state field recorders and hand-held recorders amongst journalists and broadcasters, Rycote are expanding the Mini Windjammer range. The three models being introduced at IBC are designed for use with the portable Nagra AresM, the Sony PCMD50 (pictured) and the Olympus LS10. The Nagra AresM model can also be used with Zoom's popular H4.

"A few years ago, broadcasters and professional journalists wouldn't have expected to make broadcast-quality recordings on such affordable digital handheld recorders," explains Rycote's Sales & Marketing Manager Gabby Davies. "However, these devices have come of age and are now widely in use — which means that proper windshields are needed when those devices are used on location. We expect that these new Mini Windjammers will prove very popular, judging by the number of increasingly desperate requests we've had to produce them over the past 18 months!"

The new additions to the Mini Windjammer range can be seen at Stand F39 in Hall 10 at IBC 2008, where Rycote can be found throughout the show.
