Broadcast Networks Offers Technical Support To Genesis Networks

UK System Integration specialist Broadcast Networks is helping network provider Genesis Networks to deliver new services to its customers by providing general technical services at key locations around Europe.

Based in New York and with offices in London, UK, and Montpellier, France, Genesis Networks provides customized transmission solutions, including global HD video-over-IP transmission, to terrestrial, cable and satellite broadcasters around the world.

In recent months the company has had a presence at Chellomedia in Amsterdam, where it is supporting connectivity and transporting content from Chellomedia clients to all points on the Genesis network.

Broadcast Networks also has a long association with Chellomedia and is currently installing a new Network Operations Centre at the facility, as well as upgrading various edit suites and expanding Chellomedia‘s TX matrix in readiness for the launch of new channels.

Jeff Hallman, Operations Engineer for Genesis Networks, says: “Working in such close proximity to Broadcast Networks‘ engineers gave us ample opportunity to see how effective and professional they are. When a number of localized technical issues arose within our own company, we were happy to contract Broadcast Networks to provide general technical services in various customer locations in Brussels and Amsterdam. To date, the company has completed four projects for us, which have involved performance testing and re-deploying equipment that was needed at other locations on our network.”

Hallman adds that Genesis Networks is continually providing new services to its clients, as well as upgrading or altering existing services.

“Response time is an important part of our customer service philosophy, therefore it made perfect sense for us to contract Broadcast Networks because it has engineers and technicians stationed in locations where Genesis has a very active client base,” he says.

Tom Haye, managing director of Broadcast Networks, says: “Although the majority of our workload consists of large scale systems integration projects such as building multi-camera HD-ready OB trucks or television facilities, we are also cognisant of the need for on-going maintenance and technical support. Global companies like Genesis Networks would struggle to maintain a full-time technical staff in every location in which they operate, so the ability to tap into Broadcast Networks‘ ‘flying squad‘ of highly experienced engineers becomes a very attractive and cost-effective option.”

Hallman adds: “The technical expertise Broadcast Networks brings to any situation helps us provide a good service to our clients by reducing response time should a maintenance issue arise. The broadcast industry is small in nature but global in scope and companies like Broadcast Networks will always be a necessary part of any company‘s ability to service its client base.”
