Aerial Video Systems Uses MRC Link Wireless Systems

Proprietary Encoding Software Making the Difference in Wireless SD Camera Systems

North Billerica, Massachusetts, August 30, 2007 - Microwave Radio Communications (MRC) announced today that it provided Link XP wireless camera systems for complete coverage of ESPN‘s X Games 13 held in Carlson, California. The live SD wireless coverage of X Games 13 is the latest in a long line of high profile venues where MRC and Link proprietary technology bested the competition.

The Link XP is lightweight cameraback transmitter which installs on professional cameras using standard battery mounts from Anton Bauer, IDX, or PAG battery systems. MRC, Link‘s sister company, is the sole distributor of the Link product line within the Americas. The diversity receive portion of the system, the Link L2104, provides a robust error free signal even under the most challenging conditions. The system is flexible and can be configured for diversity configurations from 2 or 4 antennas.

Aerial Video Systems (AVS), in conjunction with MRC, used Link XP wireless transmitters to cover Skateboard Big Air, Motocross Best Trick, and the Motorcross Step Up events at the Staples Center. The Link XP systems were also used to cover SuperMoto, Women‘s and men‘s skateboarding, amateur skateboarding, and Freestyle motocross elimination. AVS placed antennas at key locations throughout the Staples Center venue to fully utilize the diversity feature of the Link 2104. An antenna was even placed in the elevator utilizing in house cabling to provide seamless coverage as the athletes moved from the event floor to the top of the jump ramp at the highest point in the arena.

The final two days of X Games competition moved from the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles to the open air Home Depot Center in Carson, California. AVS provided live aerials from its company owned Partenavia P-68 aircraft. In another configuration the Link XP was used to beam down live images of the games below from the onboard Cineflex gyrostabilized camera system.
