Echolab Introduces OvationMD™ Multi-Definition Switcher

BILLERICA, Mass. -- Sept. 7, 2007 -- Echolab Corporation, a provider of technologically advanced video production switchers and other broadcast tools, today introduced its OvationMD™ multi-definition video switcher to the European marketplace at IBC2007. The HD-ready OvationMD series offers the very latest in multi-definition switcher technology, building on the award-winning and highly successful Opera SD series of switchers.

“OvationMD is the most versatile switcher platform available today -- an outstanding choice for use in a high-end broadcasting unit. It‘s another example of Echolab‘s ability to match customer responsiveness to superb technical competence,” said Nigel Spratling, Echolab‘s President. “At Echolab, such a match continues to yield innovative product development. Indeed, we like to think of OvationMD as a significant step forward in broadcast evolution.”

OvationMD switchers are powerful enough to handle fast-paced, live video production and flexible enough to adapt to customers‘ growing and changing needs. The OvationMD series supports SD video formats and simplifies the transition to HD production. Additionally, each switcher in the OvationMD product line offers the same functionality as Echolab‘s Opera series, with full-function keyers on each M/E, downstream keyers, frame buffers, frame synchronizers, and options for partner product control.

The OvationMD series also includes internal analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion, up/down/crossconversion, frame synchronizers, and frame buffers. OvationMD unlocks creative limits by enabling simultaneous signal format production, multiple key layers, and advanced 3D DVE effects with warp and lighting.

Compact and cost-effective, OvationMD switchers also offer sophisticated optional features such as dynamic multi-definition functionality, enabling hassle-free resource sharing across broadcasts regardless of picture format and on-the-fly conversions. The OvationMD series includes an impressive list of internal conversion options that allow the switchers to accept a wide variety of input formats of the same frame rate and then output in 1080i, 720p, and SD formats. This ability to convert in the mainframe simplifies system design and reduces overall costs significantly.
