NAB, CBS Outernet Bring DTV Message Almost Everywhere

At this point, you have to be hiding pretty well to avoid the messages about DTV.

Now, a bunch of 15- and 30-second promos will find their way to dentists’ offices, grocery stores and more.

CBS Outernet is behind the no-stone-unturned approach, teaming with CNET and NAB. This month, spots will appear in American Airlines flights, AutoNet TV, the CBS Outernet Grocery Network, Gas Station TV (atop gas pumps) and the Healium Network (that’s the one in medical and dental waiting rooms). The nets combine to reach 70 million out-of-home viewers each month.

"America’s broadcasters are committed to ensuring that the DTV transition message reaches all affected viewers," said Jonathan Collegio, vice president for the DTV transition at NAB. "We are thrilled that CBS Outernet and its wide range of partners are helping us target tens of millions of consumers in thousands of high-traffic locations nationwide."

The spots are also running on regular CBS Television, including messages from cast members of shows.

CBS Outernet Grocery Network is currently installed in over 1,500 stores nationwide (including Supervalu's Albertsons, Acme, Shaw's, and Jewel, plus regional chains SaveMart, Pathmark, Price Chopper, Big Y and Ukrop's), reaching approximately 80 million shoppers each month. CBS Outernet also operates GameStop TV, reaching more than 4,000 GameStop stores nationwide trafficked by 24 million shoppers each month. Outernet reaches more viewers still over the Automotive Broadcasting Network (car dealership/service center waiting rooms), Atlanta's MARTA commuter trains, The Bite Network (at quick-service restaurants), the Mall of America, Simon Malls, Royal Caribbean Cruises, and The Salon Channel among others.
