Maximum Throughput and da Vinci Systems Partner to Deliver Virtual Telecine

Max-T Sledgehammer and da Vinci 2K Provide Non-Linear Workflow Solution for Boston‘s Finish Editorial

MONTREAL and CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Nov. 27, 2007 -- Maximum Throughput Inc., developers of ultra-high performance, software-based solutions for networked storage infrastructure and media management, and da Vinci Systems, the leading provider of color enhancement and image restoration products, today announced they have integrated their company‘s solutions at Finish Editorial in Boston to deliver an end-to-end, non-linear color grading environment.

“The combination of the da Vinci 2K Plus® front-end coupled with the dual stream-capable Sledgehammer back-end has reinvented the way we color grade our clients‘ projects,” said Terry Lockhart, chief engineer at Finish. “As we were evaluating the direction we wanted to take, it was clear that the 2K was our key investment, delivering the best and most complete toolset possible. Now that the 2K is integrated with the dual stream Sledgehammer, our clients have a fully non-linear, uncompressed, and in-context experience in the suite and they‘ve never been happier.”

When integrating the da Vinci 2K and the Max-T Sledgehammer, all material is first transferred to the Sledgehammer system where it resides as a sequence of data files. The da Vinci 2K controls the Sledgehammer as it would a telecine or videotape recorder, but it also has access to all material and can grade in full context of the whole project. Sledgehammer can resize material on-the-fly, allowing it to add resolution independence as yet another useful and highly desirable capability to the combination.

John Miller, Max-T‘s vice president of worldwide sales, added the following, “Many facilities are currently faced with infrastructure upgrades, and Sledgehammer with its simultaneous, dual uncompressed stream play/record capability offers the ideal method of adding non-linear grading capabilities to those already employing da Vinci 2K systems.”

“We‘re very excited to be working with Max-T to offer even more power to our clients who are grading with da Vinci 2K systems,” said Dean Lyon, vice president of marketing at da Vinci. “The virtual telecine workflow has great appeal for those facilities looking to maximize their equipment investments while streamlining their current process to ensure that it‘s both non-linear and uncompressed.”
