ClassX Development s.n.c. Exploits the Power of the Matrox DSX Platform in New Broadcast Graphics Products

Montreal, Canada, September 4, 2007 - Matrox® Video Products Group today announced that Italian developer ClassX has chosen the Matrox DSX platform as the hardware engine for a variety of live broadcast graphics solutions. ClassX‘s new CG series 4.6 includes: MoreCG for the creation of titling and digital video effects in real time with text, images, video clips and animations; CastaliaCG for realtime broadcast character-level effects and hierarchical vector/bitmap animation; and CGPlayout for the creation and execution of dynamic playlists.

"We chose the Matrox DSX LE, DSX SD, and X.mio cards for our latest generation of products because the scalability of the Matrox product line let us create a variety of cost-effective and innovative solutions for the broadcast market,” said Michele Puccini, ClassX product manager. “We‘ve put all our experience into developing first class hardware-accelerated graphics engines that take advantage of any graphics board while running parallel with CPUs.”

The Matrox DSX product line will be demonstrated at IBC 2007 on stand 7.228.

About ClassX CG series 4.6

All ClassX products are developed with performance and reliability in mind. They take advantage of OpenGL hardware graphics acceleration supported through SGL, as well as multi-threading, and multi-core technologies.

MoreCG 4.6 is a high performance system featuring an intuitive user interface for the creation of content-rich, state of the art, broadcast-quality dynamic titling. It includes a powerful graphics engine to achieve timeline-based 2D/3D effects on any type of object or media file. Users have the freedom to create texts, shapes, images, and clips and enhance their look with a complete set of dynamic filters such as border, extrusion, shadow, outline, bevel, etc.

CastaliaCG 4.6 creates dynamic tiling with text, images, video clips, and animations. It handles both bitmap and vector graphics, keeping them in their native format. With CastaliaCG, hierarchical animations are easy to create. Single characters or object groups can be moved over a given path. A wide variety of effects presets are offered or the user can create unique effects in seconds with the easy-to-use waveform editor.

CGPlayout 4.6 is the first graphical playout solution capable of dynamically playing and editing contents of the playlist at the same time using a single computer. The playout list can include any number of MoreCG and CastaliaCG projects. The project icons are visible in the main window and can be scrubbed using the mouse to get an animated preview of their contents. Projects can be edited with just a double-click on the icon.
