Channel 4 Re-Engineers Live Broadcast Operations With ScheduALL

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- March 12, 2008 -- Channel 4, a major public television channel serving all areas of the U.K., has expanded its implementation of ScheduALL operations management to streamline all satellite bookings, feeds, and shift planning for the channel's live broadcasts.

ScheduALL is a complete operations management solution designed to meet the fast-paced resource scheduling and business needs of broadcast, postproduction, and production industries. At Channel 4, ScheduALL is replacing a paper-based process for line feeds and satellite bookings that required engineers to enter data manually into spreadsheets, risking errors and duplication of work.

Now, ScheduALL provides an end-to-end management system to automate all of Channel 4's incoming and outgoing line feeds and satellite downlinks. The system automatically books and confirms satellite time, books and schedules production rooms and other resources, and coordinates personnel and equipment for live programming.

"With live transmissions, there's no room for error. All components must be carefully scheduled and coordinated without duplicating effort, and it's very easy for small details to fall through the cracks," said Jeff Booth, program operations manager for Channel 4. "ScheduALL has transformed our business and brought about vast improvements in our ability to operate efficiently and cost-effectively. It's enabled our line coordinators to work more productively and has freed them to concentrate on the technical aspects of getting programs onto the air, rather than having to focus on logistical details."
