NUCOMM NEWSHUB CELLULAR DIVERSITY RECEIVE SYSTEM DEBUTING AT IBC2007

The Netherlands, Amsterdam, August 27, 2007 - Nucomm, Inc. is introducing its NewsHub Cellular Diversity Receive System at IBC2007 (Booth #1.130). An ideal way to implement a wide-area urban cellular diversity receive network, Nucomm‘s NewsHub features four ASI inputs with loop-through packet switching that will provide seamless switching of up to four cellular receive sites. Coverage areas can be expanded as required by cascading two or more NewsHub systems.

Featuring a switchable HD/SD full-format MPEG2 decoder as well as NTSC/PAL capability, the NewsHub offers an extremely low signal acquisition time, making it ideal for fast-moving news operations.

The NewsHub offers genlock in all analog format inputs, and provides 2 SDI/ASI outputs. The NewsHub is designed to be easy to control, with USB/Ethernet and RS232 remote control, and the downconverted SD output with status overlay is ideal for monitoring.

According to John Payne IV, Nucomm director of engineering, the NewsHub diversity receive systems are becoming a key part of news operations as networks continue to incorporate more HD newsgathering capabilities. “NewsHub diversity switch allows multiple diversity receivers to be interconnected to form a cellular diversity network. This enables broadcasters to cover an entire urban downtown area in HD. Cellular diversity receiving networks also improve IP file transfer rates from the ENG truck / OB Van to the studio; allowing data transfer even while the truck is in motion.”

He adds, “NewsHub diversity switch allows a single wireless camera or truck to move from receive site to receive site with uninterrupted live HD.”

The Nucomm NewsHub is one in a series of products introduced by Nucomm to support the migration of television broadcasters to digital electronic news production. For more information about the Nucomm NewsHub, visit www.nucomm.com.
