Penn Broadcaster First in U.S. to Install Quantel's generationQ

WFMZ in Allentown, Pa., which serves viewers in the northern Philadelphia area, recently acquired Quantel's generationQ newsroom server and editing technology, becoming the first broadcaster in the U.S. to install this all-digital news production system. The new installation provides a digital infrastructure based around Quantel's sQ server that will work seamlessly between the station's two production locations in Allentown and Reading, Pa.

The installation at WFMZ will include a six-port sQ server, four Qedit edit/ingest stations and a mixture of 14 QCut and QView journalist workstations. The two bureaus will be linked by the Internet and microwave, using a version of the "Split Remote" technology developed by Quantel last year.
