Memphis PBS Station Installs Titan Automation

February 24, 2006
Memphis, Tenn. PBS member station WKNO-TV recently installed a Sundance Digital automation system to replace an older system that no longer had manufacturer support.

WKNO chose Sundance's Titan system as the best fit for the station.

"I'd been familiar with Sundance for many years and they'd always been high on our vendor list. When we went out into the marketplace the second time, we wanted a system with a large installed base within the public broadcasting community--one with proven interfaces to our traffic systems and one that understood how we functioned at an operational level," said Russ Abernathy, WKNO-TV station manager.

The Titan system is capable of controlling hundreds of channels and remotely managing playlists. At WKNO-TV, the system is tied to Grass Valley MC 2100 MC switchers, a Grass Valley 7000 router, Chyron character generators, Sony VTRS and Thomson Grass Valley Profile 1044 video file servers.

The station, which is owned by Mid-South Communications Foundation, serves Memphis and Shelby County with 24-hour analog and digital services.
