Gefen is unveiling a new 4x2 HDMI switcher designed to deliver high-quality HD for video walls, system testing, dual display setups, home and office integration, and audio/video switching, without degradation or time lag.
The switcher comes equipped with four HDMI [HD multimedia interface] inputs and two HDMI outputs. It connects four HD sources to two displays, making it ideal for the OEM [original equipment] market. Gefen said DVI sources and displays can be connected with a HDMI-to-DVI adapter--and when combined with a HDMI extender, the displays can be extended hundreds of feet from their main sources.
Users switch to their desired source by using the unit's IR remote control. Both displays show the same source when selected. Multi-channel digital audio and HD video for each source is routed to both displays simultaneously. The unit sustains HD video integrity in resolutions up to 1080p and is fully HDMI- and HDCP-compatible.
