ATI Digital Audio Ships Audio Conversion Gear for Olympics Coverage

March 26, 2008
ATI Digital Audio has shipped a supply of audio conversion and distribution gear to Beijing for the Summer Olympic Games.

The list of products includes 58 non-reclocking DSA106-XLR 1X6 digital audio distribution amplifiers and 15 ADAC-2 simultaneous A/D, D/A and sample rate converters. The DSA106-XLR filled Beijing's requirement for handling Dolby E encoded audio. Dolby E permits distribution of surround and multichannel audio via 2-channel digital post-production facilities. The ATI DSA Series digital distribution amplifiers preserve the Dolby E encoded data by not re-clocking the signal.

Engineered by DaySequerra, the ADAC-2 supports two channels at up to 24-bit word length and 192 kHz sampling rate. Three independent audio paths through the unit allow users to convert one stereo program from analog to digital, a second stereo program from digital to analog and a third digital audio program from one sample rate to another, all simultaneously and without interaction. Audio quality exceeds requirements for the most demanding applications with A/D and D/A dynamic range in excess of 100dB, D/A THD+Noise less than 0.001 percent and Sample Rate Converter SNR greater than 128dB.

ATI Digital Audio is a part of ATI Group, Inc., a manufacturer of professional audio products for broadcast radio and television, satellite uplink and downlink, studio and large venue applications.
