Brightcove offers free preview of commercial service
Brightcove is making the standard edition of its Internet TV service available through a free, open commercial preview. The open commercial preview will offer individuals and organizations the ability to use Brightcove in advance of the full commercial release at no cost.
Brightcove plans to launch the full commercial release of its Standard Services in the summer of 2006.

Telefónica upgrades IPTV service with Grass Valley ViBE MPEG-4
Imagenio, the IPTV service of Spanish telecom operator Telefónica, has ordered Thomson Grass Valley SD and HD MPEG-4 encoding platforms as well as other equipment and systems integration.
Grass Valley is responsible for the complete IPTV headend system at Telefónica operations. This system includes satellite downlinks using Grass Valley DBD 4437 IRDs as well as a 256 x 256 Grass Valley Trinix HD routing switcher and a ViBE MPEG-4 encoder for each channel. The ViBE encoders also support AAC, the new audio coding algorithm.

SmartVideo turns to Optibase IPTV platforms
SmartVideo, a provider of management and delivery solutions of content to mobile and cellular devices, is using Optibase IPTV streaming platforms to provide full motion TV to Verizon and Cingular mobile subscribers in the United States.
SmartVideo is using the Optibase MGW 5100 TV streaming platform to encode and transmit live video received from satellite provider Crawford Communications over a dedicated network to SmartVideo's facilities. At SmartVideo, the video is decoded using Optibase's MGW 200 decoders and transmitted using SmartVideo's proprietary technology to cell phones and other smart handheld devices.

Silver Star Communications rolls out IPTV offering
Freedom, WY, -based Silver Star Communications will deploy Even Technologies Infinite Video IPTV system over its existing network using the PSI_V standard and high-definition video compression engine.
