Global Crossing wins Inuk Networks contract
Global Crossing has been awarded a three-year contract to offer Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) as part of a new service targeted at the research-and-education and consumer markets. The service forms part of a triple-play offering being launched by Inuk Networks later this year aimed initially at a UK university student population of more than 3 million. The service will include broadband Internet access, IPTV and VoIP.

Latens secures deal with Smart Telecom
IPTV conditional-access (CA) provider Latens Systems has signed a deal to supply the CA system with Irish telecom provider Smart Telecom for its SmartVision IPTV service. The contract follows the successful conclusion of a pilot of the Latens system with the Dublin-based operator.

Packet Vision names Horrell CEO
UK-based IPTV advertising specialist Packet Vision has appointed Charlie Horrell to the position of chief executive officer. Horrell was formerly at Thomson, where he was chief operating officer in the company’s set-top box division.

Concurrent, Nordija collaborate on IPTV solution
Danish interactive applications developer Nordija has selected Concurrent's MediaHawk 4000 video server for use in its IPTV middleware platform.
The Nordija middleware offers a TV portal that assists the viewer selecting channels and using other features such as video-on-demand, electronic program guides, network personal video recording, and personal channel mosaic.
