CableLabs found the Thales SAPPHIRE video server to conform to the SCTE 30 2001 specification for digital program insertion.
The Thales SAPPHIRE MPEG-2 video server has passed a series of tests compiled by CableLabs to test conformance to the SCTE 30 2001 specification for digital program insertion (DPI).
CableLabs, a non-profit research and development consortium for the cable industry, designed and performed the compliance tests as part of its Phase 9 DPI (Digital Program Insertion) testing in March 2005.
DPI allows program substitution in the MPEG-2 compressed domain for advertising insertion and regional program substitution. For legacy systems, SAPPHIRE uses an ASI interface to send compressed content to the MPEG transport stream splicer. SAPPHIRE also offers an Ethernet interface on splicers that support this interface.
