Tascam updates DM-3200 console

Tascam has updated its DM-3200 digital mixing desk. The recently released version 1.2 software update adds support for cascading multiple units, as well as MIDI machine control and GPI.

The DM-3200 is a small-footprint 48 channel mixer supporting resolutions of up to 96kHz/24-bit, featuring 16 busses and 8 aux sends as well as built in DSP. The version 1.2 update, which is available as a free download on the company’s Web site, also includes support for Tascam’s FireWire and surround monitoring cards, as well as additional features including MICI control of external devices via MADI messages, enhanced LED encoder assignability, and new parameters within the desk’s internal automation.

Tascam also announced the release of Giga Virtual Instrument (GVI), a plug-in sampler powered by their GigaStudio audio/sampling engine. The plug-in is designed for Windows DAW software, including ProTools, and includes such features as unlimited polyphony, 96kHz/24-bit sampling support, and embedded GigaPulse convolution. The GVI plug-in will run as a 16-part multi-timbral plug-in instrument in VSTi and RTAS formats. A Mac OS version is also promised.
