SKY PerfecTV! goes HD with Harris H-Class automation
Harris has won a contract with SKY PerfecTV!, Japan, to supply and install an HD version of the Harris H-Class D-Series playout automation application and H-Class media ingest application for the SKY PerfecTV! direct-to-home satellite service.
SKY PerfecTV! initially purchased the D-Series playout automation solution to control six playout channels and later expanded to 15 SD channels. The HD system was installed on new D-Series version 4.0 (running on the Linux platform). The system sits independently of the existing SD channels, and runs Omneon servers for HD encoding and a Front Porch DIVA archiving system. The system provides redundancy from ground level up to the satellite.
