Scopus launches Piccolo cable headend-in-a-box

Piccolo provides 1-8 QAM outputs and supports broadcasting for up to 50,000 subscribers.

Scopus Network Technologies has launched its Piccolo small cable headend solution.

Piccolo improves operator competitiveness and increases revenues by enabling them to offer subscribers an expanded lineup of regular and premium channels.

As an easy-to-install and maintain solution, Piccolo suits the needs of small cable system operators requiring an end-to-end digital cable headend configuration. The system provides from single to eight QAM outputs and supports broadcasting for up to 50,000 subscribers in an integrated 20RU compact enclosure.

Its digital capabilities allow operators to better serve niche markets by developing new services and bouquets to fulfill subscriber demands.

The digital turnaround system (DTA) system encompasses all of the various capabilities including: receiving, descrambling, grooming, multiplexing, routing, transrating (rate translation), and DVB tables generator (PSI/SI) to build an EPG. Conditional access (CA) and subscriber management system (SMS) can be integrated into the headend.
