Run Digital Media debuts Internet delivery system for broadcast-ready TV content
By TVTechnology published
Run Digital Media has partnered with Microsoft and Telestream to provide the first Internet-only system for delivering a broad range of television content, from 30-minute infomercial programming to 30-second television spots, via the Internet in a ready to broadcast format.
Run Digital Media encodes content in Windows Media 9 (Microsoft’s implementation of VC-1, the proposed SMPTE standard), and compresses it into intelligent objects specifically for use in broadcast programming/distribution.
The solution uses a metadata-based system to direct media on secure FTP servers and downloads content onto a Microsoft Windows-based transcoding server for playback via over-the-air broadcast.
The system uses Telestream's FlipFactory to manage ingest at the broadcaster's site. The distribution solution maintains a wide range of all metadata.
