At its annual general membership meeting during the recent AES convention in New York, the Society of Professional Audio Recording Services (SPARS) officially elected its Board of Directors as well as its executive committee. Founded in the early 1970s, the non-profit organization focuses on the audio recording services industry. Over the past few years the organization has been pursuing an aggressive renewal and expansion agenda.
The new team includes:
- President, Karen Brinton of Remote Recording
- President-Elect, Leslie Ann Jones of Skywalker Sound
- Secretary, Eric Johnson of Blazing Music & Sound
- Treasurer, Andrew Kautz of Love Shack Studios
Marcia Vaught-Kautz was appointed to the Executive Director position.
The organization occasionally hosts BizTech, a series of small, daylong regional conferences designed around timely information crucial to studio managers. These events are targeted to veteran studio owners and new operators with limited business experience.
