M2 Optics unveils fiber simulation test instrument

The M2 Fiber Lab 3200 test instrument houses individual spools of fiber that provide 1, 2, 4 or 8dB of real fiber attenuation.

M2 Optics has introduced the Fiber Lab 3200, a fiber optic field simulation test instrument that can be ordered with a variety of connector interfaces and fiber types to simulate field applications.

The 3200 features standard SC/APC connectors on the front panel with other types available. It houses individual spools of fiber that provide 1dB, 2dB, 4dB or 8dB of real fiber attenuation (or 1km to 25 km) in each of four individual attenuation areas. Eliminating fiber crimping and breakage, this instrument lets users easily connect the spools in series with short patch cords to simulate field applications.
