Front Porch Digital spans four Al Jazeera sites

Front Porch Digital (FPD) was selected by Al Jazeera International to streamline Al Jazeera International’s digital video archives at its four broadcast centers in Doha, London, Kuala Lumpur, and Washington, D.C. This sale will involve the delivery of four DIVArchive solutions with ad hoc professional services.

Al Jazeera International, the 24-hour English-language news and current affairs channel, will broadcast globally in the spring of 2006.

Thomson will lead the Al Jazeera installation as the chosen systems integrator on the project. Thomson and Front Porch have worked successfully on a number of archive installations throughout Europe and Asia, and this deal represents the second time they have been chosen for an archive solution with Al Jazeera. The architecture of the system is structured around Grass Valley HD Profile video servers, StorageTek tape libraries, Grass Valley NewsBrowse Web-based browsing and editing systems, and the automation application from Harris. The company previously installed a similar system in Washington, D.C.
